Abstract

The two frequently stated reasons for implementation of organic practices and purchasing organic food are concern for one’s health and for the environment, with the former exceeding the latter in importance. The world is facing various health challenges. People are adopting a more sedentary lifestyle nowadays as the middle class is growing and urbanization accelerating. Purpose – As consumers are getting concerned about their health and environment, they are becoming more favourable to change their food preference to organic diet as lesser or no pesticides and other chemicals are used in organic farming. The current research model proposes an integration of Theory of Planned Behaviour and Protection Motivation Theory that accounts for consumers’ purchase intention towards organic food. This study addresses the issue of how the proposed variables influence consumers’ purchase intention towards organic food.
