Abstract

Alliance capability is a key factor to ensure the sustainability and success of any alliance relationships. However, the diversification of alliance capability based on various research strands has made it difficult to accurately define the actual dimension of the alliance capability. Therefore, this paper aims to explore a) the alliance capability dimensions particularly at the micro-level processes, b) the interplay between the alliance capability dimensions, and c) the role of practice theory in explaining the interplay between these dimensions. This paper represents a part of an on-going study which intends to develop a framework on how microlevel alliance capabilities influence R&D alliance success in Malaysian university-industry R&D alliances.
