Abstract

In recent years, there were many studies which suggest that Total Quality Management (TQM) is likely to improve an organization’s performance. Although there is a considerable amount of literature available that have examined the relationship between Total Quality Management and various aspects such as business performance, quality performance etc., but still little is known about the ability of Total Quality Management in sustaining an organizational performance in the context of Iranian Industries. Many studies have examined Total Quality Management by adopting the dimensions developed by previous studies, either wholly or by combining or fragmenting the dimensions. In doing so, there is a tendency of ignoring the potency of the multi-faceted characteristics of TQM. Utilizing the literatures and previous researchers as a base this study has searched the valuable knowledge, ideas and feedback from the practitioners as well as the academicians in formulating the suitable and appropriate dimensions for TQM for Iranian Automobile industries. This study is considering quality culture as an independent variable to critical success factors of TQM and also the quality of products is not in best level in Iranian industries. Then, the quality improvement should be considered. This study has brought quality improvement as a mediating variable because previous researches did not consider quality improvement as an intervening variable and its relationship with quality culture, CSF of total quality management (TQM) and performance.
