Abstract

This study examines the use and application of a knowledge management system (KMS) to support disaster management efforts at the Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) (National Security Council), in Malaysia. The preliminary interviews with MKN officials implied that the organisation could benefit from the implementation of a system (ICT/web enabled) to support the disaster management (DM) efforts. MKN is currently facing three main challenges, namely, communication, coordination and collaboration (3Cs) issues between MKN and its affiliate members/agencies, data management issues and information, knowledge sharing and dissemination issues.
