Abstract

This thesis focuses on proposing a new XML conceptual modeling technique by exploring the possibility of extending ER model. The proposed model will include requirements such as friendly graphical notation, specify cardinality for all relationships and characteristic special for XML such as ordering, mixed content, construct for irregular structure and so on. We validated our proposed model through two case studies. Finally, a framework is developed to test the up and down translation from conceptual modelling to schema code generation and vice-versa.
