Abstract

This study serves as a performance gauge for policy makers as to how legal reforms in corporate governance have fared since introduction of code of corporate governance in 2000 in Malaysia. It also facilitates the decision making of policy makers and board of directors whether to accelerate, or rather scale back on corporate governance practices of companies and their stock returns, whether better corporate governance practices lead to higher stock returns, as discussed in prior literatures.
