Abstract

In recent years, the Food and Beverage (F&B) industry has undergone a transformative integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) devices, marking a paradigm shift in its operational landscape. The incentive behind this widespread adoption of AI devices stems from a confluence of factors, with the global pandemic catalyzing change. Faced with unprecedented challenges, businesses in the F&B sector have turned to AI solutions to navigate disruptions and to ensure the continuity of operations while also maintaining proper social distancing protocols. This surge in AI utilization in the F&B industry has prompted the present comprehensive study that examines the intricate dynamics of AI acceptance. The research focuses on key determinants such as perceived performance expectancy, perceived effort expectancy, and perceived anthropomorphic characteristics. While previous investigations have extensively explored AI adoption in various sectors, the F&B industry presents unique challenges and opportunities. The study not only seeks to explain the factors influencing AI acceptance but also explores consumer perceptions of these technological implementations within the F&B realm. This study has been conducted using a quantitative method using purposive sampling. The target population of this study was in the Klang Valley area, Malaysia with a sample size of 107. Data was analyzed using the IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v29. Findings show that both positive and negative attitudes towards the acceptance of AI do occur depending on certain factors. When focusing on whether AI can improve the quality of service or possess more human-like features, people's opinions towards accepting AI devices sway in a more positive direction.
