Abstract

Recently, there is a huge demand on developing traditional learning environments by using and applying new teaching methods in order to enhance students’ learning experiences. Researches resulted that technology can support learning process and enhance it. Augmented Reality (AR) has been used in education to enhance its experience. It uses virtual objects and layers them in real environments to display extra information that support learning and make the environment more engaging and motivational. Cooperative learning strategy showed that students are engaged more with each other and their learning materials as well, which result in a better understanding and achievement. As using AR in education is still in early stage, more researches are required to approve its benefits on students’ achievements when used with cooperative learning pedagogical techniques. In this research paper, a conceptual model that combines cooperative learning (CL) and augmented reality (AR) to enhance learning environment. This model is presented to contribute in upgrading students’ cooperation, engagement, and achievements, and address the issue of lacking interactivity and motivation in traditional learning environment.
