Abstract

With the increase in electricity consumption in the residential sector, the lack of a convenience to assist the consumers participating in lowering their electricity consumption is a concern and needs to be addressed. The project uses a microcontroller, current sensor and relay in which the user is able to control and monitor the appliance using Flutter mobile application through a Linux based Virtual Private Server (VPS) running on Django python and an SQLite database. The prototype is small, rigid, cost effective, RoHS compliant, tested on a different lamps ratings and providing an accurate energy consumption information. The server, circuit and mobile application have showed a real time data exchange, fast response, numerical, graphical consumption presentation and capable of setting energy or power limit for the appliance to not exceed.
