Abstract
This research aims to shed light on the ability of private universities to formalize, capture, and leverage its intangible assets rather than only investing and managing tangible assets to achieve frugal innovation. Frugal Innovation (FI) is conceptualized under the theory of Knowledge based view (KBV) and dynamic capabilities view (DCV) to support firms with resource constraints to create more sustainable growth. This research will adopt a positivist philosophy to identify the main aim of this research. Purpose – This research seeks to contribute to the current debate in the literature, positioning frugal innovation within the sphere of Intellectual Capital (IC) research, through exploring the effect of IC on frugal innovation mediated by the Information Technology (IT) capabilities in private universities.
