Information and communication technology (ICT) became within short time, one of the essential pillars of modern society. Many countries consider accepting ICT and mastering the fundamental skills and concepts of ICT as part of the core of education process, alongside reading and writing. The principle objectives of this dissertation were to identify the important factors affecting the use of ICT in higher education in Sudan and to determine the different strategic pathways that higher education institutions may decide with respect to the adoption and use of ICT in their institutes. The researcher elicited data from students and staff. The data collection utilized a triangulation strategy including both quantitative and qualitative research methods: the quantitative findings were further used to support the qualitative findings. A model based on the literature review was developed to address the overarching research questions, and to test the pertinent research hypotheses.
