Abstract
M2 PRESSWIRE-24 June 1999-COMPUTER ASSOCIATES: Malaysia's first virtual multimedia university leverages CA's Unicenter TNG to help ensure availability of Internet resources (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA -- Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) and University Tun Abdul Razak (Unitar) today announced that Unitar has selected CA's Unicenter TNG to help ensure maximum availability and access to the University's Internet resources. As part of the Smart School Project, a key Malaysian government initiative to revamp the country's education system, Unitar students study in local centers and use CD-ROM courseware that consists of video graphics, animation and sound. Students participate via e-mail, online chat rooms and videoconference in virtual classrooms. As an Internet-based institution of higher learning, Unitar is heavily dependent on technology to deliver its educational objectives. With plans for four regional centers and 11 satellite centers over the next five years--and with enrollment expected to grow more than one hundred-fold to 40,000--the University needed a comprehensive solution that could centrally manage its IT environment as well as its expected growth. After an extensive evaluation, Unitar selected Unicenter TNG.
