Abstract

Over the past decade, the global interest in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the medical sector has grown significantly. In Malaysia, the Malaysian Health Ministry has emphasized the importance of AI in enhancing healthcare delivery. To ensure that AI innovations are inclusive and beneficial for healthcare practitioners in Malaysia, understanding the dynamics affecting the readiness and adoption of AI in the medical field is crucial. Most existing studies on AI in healthcare focus on the development of AI applications, but there is a pressing need to explore the factors influencing its adoption among healthcare practitioners. This paper addresses this gap by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) to analyse and synthesize findings from relevant studies. The review aims to assess the landscape of AI adoption in the medical sector, focusing particularly on healthcare practitioners. The primary goal is to provide valuable insights into prior research, identify gaps and limitations, and propose potential directions for future investigation. The findings from this review are intended to contribute to the understanding of AI diffusion within Malaysia’s healthcare landscape and support the development of strategies for wider and more effective adoption of AI in the medical sector.
