Abstract

Malaysia is actively embracing the Industrial Revolution 4.0, with a significant focus on digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). In many organizations, adopting a modern technology has become a routine transition experience. The success of these endeavours is contingent upon both the technology and the intentions of individual employees. Despite AI’s transformative potential in enhancing productivity and efficiency, its implementation faces significant challenges, notably employee reluctance due to concerns such as job insecurity and the perceived impact on their roles. This study’s primary objective is to determine and understand the factors that will influence employees’ intention to use AI within organizational settings. The independent variables in this research include perceived usefulness, habit, job insecurity, and self-image, while the dependent variable is the intention to use AI. The research employs a quantitative method using a cross-sectional study design to gather data at a single point in time. Malaysian employees are given a questionnaire to complete to collect data using the convenience sampling method. The quantitative data gathered from the survey will be analyzed in this study using multiple regression analysis, reliability analysis, and descriptive analysis. This study aims to provide valuable insights to help organizations navigate the complexity of AI implementation, ensuring a smoother transition and greater employee buy-in. Through this study, it is hoped that organizations will be able to better align their AI plans with employee expectations and needs and ultimately realize the full potential of AI in improving productivity and innovation.
