Abstract

This paper proposes a conceptual framework in which artificial intelligence (AI) mediates the relationship between HR practices and employee performance, highlighting five domains derived from the technical knowledge competencies of SHRM BASK: HR Strategy, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Learning and Development, and Total Rewards. It illustrates how AI can support the efficiency and effectiveness of these practices to improve employee performance. Using human capital-based theories, the model reinforces the importance of investment in employee skill and knowledge enhancement. The socio-technical systems theory serves to consider the complex integration of digital tools and human values within the workplace. The review of the literature shows that ethical and human-centred integration with AI presents an ethical and human-centred path towards a strategic enabler for the development of HR management and improving employee outcomes.
