Abstract
This paper introduces a novel adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) framework that combines biometric verification, device fingerprinting, and contextual risk scoring under a dynamic risk engine to resist advanced threats such as phishing, Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) swapping, and man-in-the-middle (MIM) attacks. Unlike existing solutions, the framework unifies these factors to continuously assess and adjust security requirements, striking a balance between robust security and user convenience. The approach is compared with leading industry solutions, revealing significant improvements in resilience and usability. This research also contributes to the current academic discourse by analyzing recent advancements in MFA technologies between 2021 and 2025 and identifying critical gaps in usability and real-time adaptability. The proposed framework is designed with scalability and crossplatform compatibility in mind, addressing challenges faced in both enterprise and educational environments. A comparative evaluation highlights its potential for deployment in cloud-based systems and zero trust architectures. Future work will focus on prototyping, empirical validation through simulated attacks, and integration with existing identity and access management systems.
