Finding an equilibrium balance between personal and work life has become a worldwide trend among employees, especially in Malaysia. Work-life balance is defined as an equilibrium between professional responsibilities and personal life commitments. It is vital as it improves individual quality of life and achieves organisational success. Understanding factors that could affect work-life balance is important in rectifying this issue. Based on Spillover Theory and Organisation Commitment Theory, this study examines the direct relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, supervisor support, co-worker support, workload, flexible working arrangements, job involvement and work-life balance. A total of 320 questionnaires were personally distributed to group finance employees of Telekom Malaysia. Of 320 sets distributed, only 192 sets were returned and usable for further analysis. The collected data was analysed by using Statistical Packages for Social Science version 26.0 (SPSS 26.0). The normality test, reliability test, descriptive test, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression were applied in this study. The Pearson Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression were used to test the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. The results support the hypotheses that emotional intelligence and job involvement positively affect work-life balance. On the contrary, other independent variables, including spiritual intelligence, supervisor support, co-worker support, workload, and flexible working arrangements, are not significantly related to work-life balance. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings, limitations, and recommendations for future research were discussed. The findings of this study offer evidence on the applicability of Spillover Theory and Organisation Commitment Theory in explaining the factors that impact employees’ work-life balance. Based on these findings, organisations must focus on the variables of emotional intelligence and job involvement to achieve work-life balance within the organisation.
