Abstract

The occurrence of floods has emerged as a matter of national concern due to its endangerment to life and property, as well as its disruption of social and economic activities. However, the readiness of Malaysians facing floods is still low. Through a focus group interview and survey, this research aims to illustrate an initial proof of concept study for our innovative mobile application. Teru Teru is a mobile app designed as a flood prediction and alerting application, which is embedded with other features like flood reporting, clogged drainage reporting, evacuation centers, and food bank information, as well as CSR initiatives including drainage cleaning and river cleaning. On the other hand, the users’ real-time reporting data will be processed to predict the flood at pinned locations. Hence, the sole reason of this paper is to recommend an idea of a digital solution that can be used to solve flood awareness and reporting among Malaysians.
