Food wastage is global phenomenon which is not new to many countries in the world. All edible foodstuffs produced intended consumption, but were not consumed across the food supply chain, and disposed of can be termed as food waste. The notion that almost a third of the food produced for human use is wasted globally is problematic. The entire supply chains lose or wastes food, from the original output to final household consumption. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors to enhance the capability of the Malaysian Food Banking System which can increase the food security for all Malaysians Specially for B40 groups and reduce the level of food wastage in Malaysia. The target population of this study comprises all Malaysian food banks authorities, employees, volunteers and other NGO bodies. A stratified and simple random sampling technique was used to apportion the required sample and to select the actual respondents. Descriptive analysis and the hypotheses of the study were analysed through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 27.0, and Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) version 4.0.8 respectively. The results of the study indicated that logistics, investment in smallholder farmers, and donor enhancement have a significant effect on the enhancement and capabilities of the food banking system. Furthermore, the results indicated that government regulatory and staff knowledge and skills does not have a significant effect on the enhancement and capabilities of the food banking system in Malaysia. The result provides valuable insight that may assist the respective management, authorities, and policy makers to overcome the issues of food banks which may help in reducing the level of food waste and insecurity.
