Abstract

The aluminium alloy surface composites was produced via friction stir processing using a special-designed friction stir tool. This work started with the optimization work to determine the optimum processing parameters for the surface composites fabrication. Next, the surface composites with different volume fractions of titanium dioxides were produced. The microstructure, microhardness, friction and wear performance of the substrate material and processed samples were observed, compared and analyzed.
