Abstract

In this research work, existence of 3D buildings and trees are viewed and discretized with the aid of Google Earth and Google SketchUp. With RT method, the signal strength to be received by the receiver is then to be calculated. To realize an efficient RT algorithm, three acceleration strategies are adopted. The first strategy relies on an effective pre-processing propagation environment, involving only limited area that has significant contribution on the received signal prediction. The ray is to be launched with certain precise beam alignment. Secondly, the possible path between a transmitter and receiver is reconstructed based on exact 2D visibility tree, therein reducing the complexity to determine the intersection of the rays. The third strategy is to restrict the order of reflections and diffraction that represent the dominant propagation mechanism.
