Abstract

To protect and preserve one’s cultural heritage is long sought by societies. George Town was inscribed with UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS) on July 7, 2008. This listing has elevated Penang to the international status of multiculturalism. However, there is a problem with the changes in the social fabric and the availability of resources to curb gentrification. Purpose – The purpose of this research is to determine whether social entrepreneurship play a vital role in the effort of safeguarding the cultural heritage in George Town UNESCO WHS in Penang.
