Abstract

The generation-demand mismatch is a challenging mission to the Electricity Sector at the global level in spite of its deregulation, and it needs to be resolved in time to maintain its security, stability, and sustainability. Apart from the generation-demand mismatch, the emission from the fossil-fuelled power systems imposes environmental challenges, which necessitate the employment of emission control strategies to protect the human health, and also to meet the global pollution standards. This research work proposes a new power dispatching algorithm incorporating economic and environmental constraints to balance the generation against demand. The proposed non-iterative analytical approach gives the solution at a faster rate compared to the time consuming and lengthy iterative techniques currently available. The size of the power system will not be a constraint for the application of the developed algorithm. The implementation of the proposed power dispatching algorithm on an IEEE Standard test system proves its efficacy. This research offers a few cost-effective energy conservation measures with a realistic case study to reduce the power demand, which helps in tackling the generation-demand mismatch.
