Abstract

One of the latest educational trends in Malaysia university is to deliver knowledge by using a blend of both face-to-face classroom interactions and online learning technology. In Malaysia, there are currently very few literature that examine the effectiveness of blended learning in higher learning institutions. Many universities in Malaysia are just beginning to explore institutional adoption and implementation of blended learning. Hence, the researchers of this study conducted an experimental study by allowing 99 Microeconomics students to use MyEconLab, a blended learning tool, for 14-week lecture classes. The 99 Microeconomics students were randomly selected from a prestige university in Malaysia to participate in this experimental study. After the 14-week lecture classes, 99 questionnaires were distributed to gauge students’ blended learning experiences. In addition, students’ test performance were also compared to examine the actual impact of MyEconLab adoption on students’ academic performances. The result shows that MyEconLab interface is easy to understand and MyEconLab helps students to be better prepared for class are two most important positive factors affecting overall experience with MyEconLab, especially for average achievers in class.
