Abstract

Femto-cell is a promising technology that enhances the network capacity, reduces the operational cost from the operators’ point of view and improves the indoor coverage as well as reduces the battery consumption from the subscribers’ point of view. However, interference probabilities are greater when deploying Femto-cells due to its random deployment and there is no necessity of pre-planning. This paper proposes an effective power reduction with Fractional Frequency Reuse(FFR) scheme to mitigate the interference generated by co-tier Femtocells. Presented results show that the scheme perfectly reduce the interference levels by reducing the transmission power to an acceptable level which covers only the operating distance within the cell leading to an enhanced capacity and a better SNR values
