Abstract

The use of wireless sensor networks is increasing rapidly especially with the next generations networks. The problem with the wireless sensor networks is that each node in the networks has a limited battery life. In addition to that most of the security algorithms that are used consume so much processing power. This paper studies the coding techniques that are energy efficient and can provide security in terms of physical layer security. Reed Solomon code found to be more secure and less energy efficient than Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem while Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem code is more energy efficient but less secure when it is compared to Reed Solomon.
