Abstract

Switching converters for power factor correction (PFC) generally use a two-stage approach consisting of two individual power stages namely, PFC stage and DC/DC regulation stage. Depending on the output power level, the two stages are put together into either serially-connected individual-control or serially-connected integrated-control configurations. This research presents the analysis, design and experiment verification of some new converter topologies and control circuits to improve the performance of switching converters of both configurations.
