Abstract

This research explores the idea of using m-learning to aid the informal learning within the formal learning setting. It concentrates on the exploration of incorporating the m-learning as the new alternative learning environment for academician as an extension of fun learning in between the formal and informal learning setting to increase the of fun learning in between the formal and informal learning setting to increase the learner’s knowledge development. The research was done in Malaysian context. The objective of this research is to study the learners’ perception of m-learning as an extension of learning in between formal and informal education setting. The sub-objectives are fourfold: 1) to investigate the mobile phone users perception, reaction, and acceptance of the mobile phone usage for m-learning, 2) to identify the design platforms for the dissemination of knowledge, 3) to examine how the usage of mobile phone for m-learning differs between heavy and light mobile phone users and 4) to propose a guideline for m-learning that fits towards bridging the formal and informal learning at tertiary level.
