Abstract

This paper investigates the adoption of learning management systems (LMS) among students in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in third-tier cities in China. The study adopts the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) model as its theoretical framework, extending it to include satisfaction, personal creativity, and self-efficacy. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey of 380 students and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The results indicate that the measurement and structural models have good reliability and validity. All hypothesized paths showed positive and statistically significant effects (p < 0.05), with the model explaining 63% of the variance in behavioral intention (BI) and 58% in usage behavior (UB). Performance expectancy and hedonic motivation were the strongest predictors of BI, which in turn was the best predictor of UB. While the quantitative findings offer valuable insights, this paper also discusses the limitations of relying solely on quantitative data and suggests incorporating qualitative methods to explore the nuanced context of TVET-specific challenges.
