Abstract

This study examines the association between environmental performance and firm value in the presence of female directors based on Malaysian context. The present study utilises 74 listed firms on Bursa Malaysia covering 2012-2020. Results obtained from Pool-OLS panel regression analysis reveal that the presence of female directors positively influences the nexus between environmental performance and firm value in Malaysia. This paper contributes not only to academic discourse but also offers practical implications for businesses aiming to enhance their environmental performance, particularly in developing countries like Malaysia. The utilization of Malaysian data provides novel empirical evidence within an emerging market, enhancing our understanding of the intricate relationships between gender diversity, environmental performance, and firm value.
