Abstract
This research presents an improved two-port, linearly polarized dual-band textile MIMO antenna for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) and fifth-generation (5G) sub-band applications. The MIMO antenna consists of two square patch elements, each integrated with a bar slot to operate in dual-band mode at 2.45 GHz and 3.5 GHz, with individual patch dimensions of 48.5 x 30 x 0.17 mm3 . A hybrid approach for a two-port octagonal patch bar slotted dual-band MIMO textile antenna attains a notable decrease in Mutual Coupling (MC) among closely positioned array elements at 0.15λ. The antenna is assessed under bending conditions with 15° and 60° curvatures, illustrating its durability in practical on-body applications. Bending at various angles significantly influenced performance at elevated frequencies, with heightened mutual coupling at 15° for both frequency ranges. The bending analysis indicated diminished resonance shifts with reduced bending angles and stable performance in the lower band, although variations in the higher band. The proposed two-port MIMO antenna attains the following commendable outcomes: S11 < -10 dB, S21 < -30 dB, realized gain > 3 dB, Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) < 0.1, and Diversity Gain (DG) ≈ 10 dB under flat and bending conditions.
