Abstract
The rising global demand for latex, coupled with declining supply due to high labor requirements and collection inefficiencies, has significantly impacted natural rubber production. To address this, an automated latex harvesting system has been developed, comprising a trolley unit equipped with an air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pump, a largecapacity storage tank, and a parallel pipeline system. Parallel design has proven to be superior to the linear design in latex collection. All inlets from a single pipeline system operate effectively, and the minimum safety factor for all pipes is 4.33, which significantly surpasses the recommended safety factor of 3. Compared to linear configurations, the parallel pipeline layout enables efficient latex flow and allows collection from 24 trees in a single operation. The system includes a funnel cup with integrated filtration to prevent contamination. Simulation and stress analysis confirm its mechanical robustness and operational efficiency. The system accelerates latex collection by 700% relative to traditional methods, with zero latex waste. These advancements offer a foundation for scalable automation in rubber plantations.
