Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the influence of coprime frequency factors in the transmit array and the frequency compensator in the receive array, on the beampattern characteristics of the Dual Coprime Frequency Diverse Array Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (DCFDA-MIMO) radar system. The recently introduced DCFDA-MIMO architecture exploits frequency diversity to enhance angular resolution and pattern flexibility. However, the choice of frequency factors critically affects the resulting beampatterns. We analyze how various configurations of coprime frequency factors and the receiverside frequency compensator affect key beampattern characteristics, such as mainlobe width, sidelobe levels, and grating lobe suppression. Our findings provide insight into the selection of frequency parameters that optimize the spatial filtering capability of DCFDA-MIMO systems.
