Abstract

Healthcare facilities and medical labs depend on networked routers to share data securely, which leaves them open to hacking, illegal access, and data theft. Operational disruption, patient record breach, and router hijacking can result from unauthorized access to protected regions. This research proposes an Internet of Things (IoT)-based solution called the Smart Intruder Detection System (Smart-IDS) to mitigate these threats. To guarantee security, it integrates motion detectors, CCTV surveillance, sirens, and real-time notifications. The system continuously monitors restricted areas to prevent intruders, uses motion sensors to identify unlawful movement, sounds an alarm, and records CCTV footage for security analysis. The Blynk IoT platform powers Smart-IDS's cloud-based notification system, instantaneously notifying administrators or security staff via web and mobile applications. Through its user-friendly interface, Blynk enables remote access to security warnings and real-time monitoring, facilitating timely response. By providing automated, round-the-clock surveillance, the system lessens the need for ongoing manual monitoring and speeds up reaction times to possible threats. Smart-IDS helps protect network security by lowering threats, including DNS server assaults, router hijacking, and data breaches, and preventing unwanted physical entry. IoT technology integration guarantees real-time alarm delivery, allowing security staff to act quickly to safeguard critical medical infrastructure. This strategy improves healthcare cybersecurity by guaranteeing adherence to stringent data privacy laws and upholding an effective and economical security system. Smart-IDS offers medical facilities a complete, scalable, and useful way to protect their data, network infrastructure, and restricted areas from unwanted access by leveraging motion detection, sirens, CCTV, and cloud-based warnings.
