Abstract

The control of polarisation state of tapered optical fibre evanescent light wave is demonstrated with the utilisation of free-space optics polarisation resolved setup. Discrimination between TE- and TM-polarised light of > 20 dB could be achieved with the proposed setup on tapered optical fibre with waist diameter. Investigation on the performance of the proposed tapered optical fibre with whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microresonators show distinguishable TE and TM group-mode families of sharp wavelength dip contrast.
