Learning analytics is an expanding field of study that aims to optimize the teaching and learning process and practice. However, in the recent systematic review articles on learning analytics, very limited of them focus on the aspect of communication skills. This systematic review paper aims to examine the forms of communication skills that have been addressed in the research field of learning analytics, to explore the types of learning analytics tools and techniques that have been used in these studies, and to examine whether feedback provision is included in these studies. The PRISMA technique was utilized to perform this systematic literature review study, and a total of 23 articles were selected using online databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Science Direct Journal, Springer Link Journal, and IEEEXplore Digital Library. The results were analyzed thematically. Remarkably, learning analytics has appeared to be advantageous and effective in understanding the communication behaviors in different settings. Most of the studies focused on written and spoken or oral communication skills; however, very few concentrated on nonverbal communication skills. In addition, Multimodal Learning Analytics and Micro Kinect were among the popular tools and techniques used in these learning analytics for communication skill studies. Despite the fact that learning analytics tools play a crucial role in the teaching and learning process and practice, only a small number of studies have included feedback provision aimed at improving learners' communication skills in the reviewed learning analytic research. Therefore, future studies can focus more on this aspect.
