Abstract

One of the problems students faced during the book search is they are not able to search books by themselves, the only way to search books is receiving assistance from librarians. A book search system that enables users to search for books based on their cover images or titles using speech recognition was developed in this project. A faster book search is allowed with this system. The users could have broad accessibility, more conveniences and enhance the learning experience. In developing the system, machine learning algorithms, popular libraries such as OpenCV and TensorFlow, and an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that supports the chosen programming languages, such as Python, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, were employed. The purpose of using ORB detection algorithm was to detect key points of the book cover images, while speech recognition was for identifying words spoken aloud and converting them into readable text. A survey was conducted to gather users' opinions, particularly on their satisfaction with the system. It was found that users were satisfied with the system when searching for books. In the future, the system will undergo further development and implementation based on feedback and recommendations from user testing and evaluation sessions. Enhancements will be made to the system to improve performance, accuracy, and availability.
