Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary study on idea visualisation through sketching methods within the framework of design thinking. Conducted in a school environment, the study introduces a project aimed at equipping the community with practical methods and tools to foster resilience within the digital ecosystem. The project further seeks to develop the community’s capacity to critically assess the strengths and limitations of various design approaches, tools, and techniques relevant to additive manufacturing. In addition to this project, the fundamental principles of sketching have been introduced to enhance their ability to visualize and communicate their ideas effectively. Based on the subject offered at the secondary school which focus on the Reka Bentuk Teknologi (RBT) is an elective subject that emphasizes design in the production of technology-based products. This project shows the inclusion of a project-based session, where participants proposed design solutions for selected scenarios, further reinforced their understanding of the design process. By encouraging ideation and guiding them through sketching and thumbnail to complete the prototyping stage, the project not only enhanced practical skills but also promoted a holistic understanding of the intricacies involved in design.
