Abstract

Triboelectric Nanogenerators (TENGs) have emerged as promising energy harvesting devices, utilizing the principles of triboelectric effect and electrostatic induction to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. In this paper, several experiments were conducted on different triboelectric materials to compare two working modes of TENGs in terms of their surface charge density, ease of fabrication, as well as industrial applications. The materials used were PTFE, silicon, PVC, fiberglass, and neoprene rubber. Results indicated that neoprene rubber yielded the highest surface charge density for FT-TENG mode at 2.031 × 10-7 Cm-2, whereas, silicon yielded the highest surface charge for CS-TENG mode at 6.2 × 10-9 Cm2. Potential applications for both TENG modes are explored, ranging from wearable energy harvesting to large- scale environmental energy capture.
