The relationship between job stress and psychological well-being in the modern academic landscape has gained attention in Malaysian higher education institutions. Understanding the psychological well-being of academics is crucial for fostering both professional and personal growth amidst the demands on academics. Hence, this study investigates the moderating role of social support on the relationship between job stress and the psychological well-being of academics in Malaysian higher education institutions, outlining dimensions such as self-acceptance, positive relations with others, purpose in life, autonomy, environmental mastery, and personal growth. Employing a quantitative method, the research inspects the potential moderating role of social support in these relationships. Through Purposive Random Sampling, 324 academic higher education institutions in Malaysia. The data was analyzed using via SmartPLS v4 and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v12. The study uncovers a significant relationship between social support and each of the six dimensions of psychological well-being. Notably, the result of the moderation analysis demonstrates that social support does not act as a moderator in the relationship between job stress and any of the six dimensions of psychological well-being. The absence of a moderating effect highlights the unique dynamics at play within the academic setting, emphasizing the need for refined approaches to address and reduce job stress and improve psychological well-being among academics.
