Abstract

Competitive rivalry is the ongoing set of competitive actions and responses occurring between competitors who influence an individual firm’s ability to gain advantageous market position. In the micro-processor industry, one of the hotly contested technology and market dog-fight takes place between Intel Corporation and Advance Micro Devices Inc in almost all the important micro-processor segments. Intel Corporation, based in Santa Clara is the market leader and the world’s largest semiconductor chip maker while Advance Micro Devices Inc, based in Sunnyvale is the challenger who designs and produces microprocessors and low-power processor solutions for the market.
