Abstract

This research investigates effective techniques for producing a novel in-fiber structure with a reconfigurable spectral response. Periodic and aperiodic serial configurations, will be fully explored. The structure will then be investigated with confined heating and mechanical strain to influence its manufactured spectral profile. This research work will provide new knowledge and technique to produce devices with the adaptive spectrum that can perfectly meet the dynamic system operating requirements. This will enable the realization of elastic optical networks. In addition, the research will provide an understanding of the behavior of the proposed structure to confined temperature and distributed strain and for measuring the frequency of vibration, which can also be exploited in sensing applications.
