Abstract

The painting portrays an image of a young girl, deliberately depicted in the form of a red silhouette to create the likeness and simplification of an icon that is used on social media to represents an individual. Social Media has become a space in which a person shares their stories, knowledge, and lifestyle. As such, an icon is chosen carefully to clearly indicated ones association with brand, music, celebrity, etc. Using this as the basis, this work speaks of the simplification of one’s identity, for example the number 69 as imprinted over the silhouette.
