Abstract

Visually impaired persons are having difficulty in placing their personal or valuable belonging temporarily to retain them safe. Therefore, storage locker with assistive technology is needed for visually impaired person to place their personal or valuable belonging whenever they are at home or outing, to improve their quality of life. This paper proposed a voice activated storage locker for visually impaired which features with voice recognition module, voice playback, micro servo motor and braille keypad. With these integrated features, it will increase the effectiveness to help visually impaired to control the storage locker easily. Electronic system integrated within the lock would actuate a rotating mechanism by using a servo motor. The traditional types of storage locker have been updated to a digital voice control type of storage locker to ease the use of visual impairment person.
