Abstract

Although researchers have focused on the predictors of expatriation success and adjustment in general, some of the predictors have been overlooked or are unclear in the expatriate literature, particularly when it comes to explaining the relationship between these factors and organisational commitment. With this in mind, the purpose of this research is to investigate the multidimensional factors that affect their organisational commitment which is not limited to expatriate adjustment only. In an effort to understand the multidimensional factors that revolve around the self-initiated expatriate academics (SIEAs), the Black et al. (1991) multiple theoretical perspectives, perceived organisational support, cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence are the theoretical foundations that will be used for this study. Design/methodology/approach-An online survey will be administered to self-initiated expatriate academic (SIEAs) working at Public Universities in Malaysia. A PLS- SEM technique will be applied in analysing the data and building the best model in predicting the organisational commitment of these SIEAs.
