Abstract

The globalization of economy continues to affect organizations at different levels and the need for the critical shift is crucial for sustainable success and survival. A constant and unpredictable change has created revolutionary changes to happen swiftly at all times and has presented various challenges to the companies and in global leadership paradigms. As organizations continued to grow globally, understanding the need for change is critical to change leaders as it impacts organizational ability to embark on and facilitate the successful change transformation processes. While it is true that change is unpredictable and random, responsibility for effectively managing change is part of organizational leader’s key performance. Indeed, great leaders and leadership qualities provide guidance and contribute to effective change management in leading change. The success of most organizations depends on its people’s competencies and core capabilities of technologies in facing the challenges to change. Change management is a structured approach to move individuals to the desired change direction in a way that ensures the organization’s future viability and competitiveness. This study provides a brief overview of the history of change models and effective change management theories, followed by various literature reviews in order to have a good understanding of how to successfully manage and achieve sustainable change objectives. The study also proposes a research instrument to gather primary data on behaviour and potential factors influencing effective change management practices for further data analysis.
