Abstract

In recent years, there has been a rising interest in the financial literacy of the younger generation among the academic community, financial institutions, organization, consumers, government agencies, and policymakers. This is because financial matters are an important part of everyday life for individuals and an ability to manage finances is essential to success in life. In this context, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the level of financial literacy of the younger generation in Malaysia. The results of the study indicate that the younger generation was severely lacking in financial knowledge. The findings also reveal that females were less financially literate compared to male respondents.
