With the growing awareness on the need to care for a better environment, there is a need to understand the factors that facilitate environmentally-sustainable behaviour among the populace. Pressures from stakeholders have triggered firms on taking a long, hard look at their approach towards the environment. More importantly, studies seeking to combine the effort of environment strategies and investors’ behaviour are few and far between. This study covers a segment of finance research, specifically behavioural finance as it examines investors’ intention to invest in environmentally-friendly shares. This study determines investors’ intention on environmental activities, which is relatively an underexplored field of study. This study contributes to the theme of sustainable development, more precisely, sustainable finance. The study of sustainable finance has become the attention of investors around the globe, however, this study is to analyse whether this sector of investment (green companies) will interest investors. An understanding on investors’ intention to invest in environmentally-friendly shares will be useful to the government and NGOs in the formulation of policies that would encourage investment in firms that are sensitive towards the needs of the environment.
