Abstract

Soaring Upwards is what Multimedia University (MMU) is driven towards. With the great trust that the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) placed - to empower a very promising pool of MMU's talents to be the frontrunners i.e. organising and submitting creative works - its Soaring Upwards i-Video Competition 2017 held with and in MMU turned out as a success. This project is part of MOHE's initiative, under its "Redesigning Higher Education" agenda. 13 teams consisting of both local and international MMU students competed to produce the best short and creative video in just nine days. The videos focused on the various initiatives MOHE had introduced to further strengthen the higher education sector, in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education). The competition has not only unearthed new talents, but most importantly, it will help the public better understand the various Redesigning Higher Education initiatives in a more creative, fun and effective way. In addition, the outcome of the competition strengthened the MMU's presence as the Industrial trendsetter of the education industry. In the Prize giving ceremony on 22 May 2017, Dato' Seri Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education, praised the quality of the videos produced as it has vindicated the Ministry's decision to collaborate with MMU in this inaugural competition. Also present at the ceremony was Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, the president of MMU.
