Abstract
Multimedia University (MMU) community is correspondingly proud of its final-year Bachelor of Multimedia (Honours) (Media Arts) student's achievement, Lee Jia Xin, who recently accepted the Jury Award at Young Contemporaries Award or 'Bakat Muda Sezaman' 2016 organised by the National Visual Arts Gallery (formerly 'National Art Gallery'). Through her creative artwork expression entitled 'Moody? Cans', she became one of five winners whom each received the award and a RM 5,000.00 cash prize. It was presented by Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, the minister of Tourism and Culture, during the official launching ceremony of the Young Contemporaries Award Exhibition at the National Visual Arts Gallery, Kuala Lumpur on 15 March 2017. Lee Jia Xin described her artwork as an exploration of relationship between the listener and the speaker that enable them to interact with each other using installed tin cans. Since Young Contemporaries Award was first organised by the National Art Gallery in 1974, it has been a prestigious art competition which has successfully identified and rewarded many talented local drawing artists who have now become pivotal movers and established figures in the Malaysian visual art scene as well as abroad. Congratulations!
